If your battery hasn’t charged as expected, this may be due to pre-balancing or a grid balancing activation event.
By participating in Grid Rewards, your system is made available to the grid operator when balancing is required. Before a possible activation, the system may enter a short pre-balancing phase to prepare the battery.
An activation only occurs if the grid operator actually needs to balance the grid
Can I set the same charging schedule and grid rewards participation hours?
There is no problem setting a charging schedule at the same time as grid rewards participation hours. While the system is simply in reserve it will follow the scheduled charging settings. The battery may need to stop charging if it is activated for grid balancing.
When an activation happens it is given priority over the charging schedule. This ensures that Emaldo can meet the commitments made to grid operators - to provide the capacity required to balance the grid when needed - and pay you grid rewards.
Once the activation period has ended, the battery will start charging again if scheduled to do so.
If your system is not activated during participation hours, the battery will follow the charging schedule as set AND you will still earn grid rewards.
Can I opt out and ensure my units are charged?
Of course. Simply set a charging schedule which does not overlap with Grid Rewards participation hours, but remember that reduces your Grid Rewards earnings.
