When you join Emaldo's Grid Rewards scheme you are helping the grid in your country to remain 'balanced' by discharging your battery if the grid needs additional power, or charging if it has too much.
Keeping a stable and 'balanced' grid is essential, so grid operators pay for this additional 'capacity' through something called ancillary markets. The revenue from those payments is what funds your Grid Rewards.
What are premium electricity suppliers?
Different suppliers have access to different types of ancillary markets, and those with the greatest range offer the opportunity to bid for the full range of grid balancing services. We have been strengthening our partnerships with these suppliers to unlock new opportunities and secure longer-term value for our customers.
From 1st September, in Denmark and Finland, those suppliers which enable Emaldo to provide customers with the highest earning potential will be considered 'Premium' electricity providers. Customer's not supplier by Premium suppliers may still earn Grid Rewards, but switching to a premium will unlock the battery systems highest earning potential.
Who are the premium suppliers?
What do I do next?
If you are currently supplied by a non-premium (tier 2) supplier, we are contacting you through email to inform you and help you decide if you would like to switch supplier.
Switching to one of our Premium suppliers is the best way to protect or maximise their Grid Rewards earnings and switching supplier is simple:
- Choose a Premium supplier
- Sign up directly on their website
- Inform us regarding the switch through the Emaldo customer app
- Further information on how to do this can be found here: https://help.emaldo.com/hc/en-150/articles/28298006315932-How-do-I-update-my-electricity-supplier
If you are not sure you can compare different electricity suppliers and explore options that may help increase your earnings. Our new AI chatbot, available through the website, has the latest answers for any Grid Rewards questions.
