What this helps you understand
When your electricity supplier can affect your Grid Rewards earning potential, what the green and amber supplier icons mean, and what to do if your supplier isn’t listed.
Before you start
- Supplier impact depends on your country and can change as flexibility markets evolve.
- If your supplier appears in the app dropdown list, your system can participate and earn Grid Rewards.
- If you change supplier, update Emaldo® as soon as the switch is completed.
Does my supplier affect my earnings?
Denmark, Finland, Czech Republic, and The Netherlands
In Denmark, Finland, Czech Republic, and The Netherlands, your electricity supplier does not affect your earnings.
Market changes can affect this in the future
Flexibility services are evolving. Emaldo® continuously adapts to how suppliers and grid operators administer these services. This may mean that different suppliers could offer different services in the future, which could affect your earning potential.
If changes occur that could impact system-users, Emaldo® will communicate what’s changing and what it means for your earnings.
Sweden
In Sweden, your electricity supplier can impact earning potential under both the Flexible and Guaranteed plans.
Different suppliers allow Emaldo® to bid for different types of flexibility services:
- Green icon suppliers allow access to the full range of grid balancing services, giving your system the opportunity to earn from the highest-paying services.
- Amber icon suppliers support fewer services. You will still earn Grid Rewards, but your potential earnings may be lower compared with a green-listed supplier.
Note: If your supplier appears in the dropdown list, your system will participate and generate Grid Rewards.
What to do if you change supplier
- Complete the supplier switch directly with your new supplier.
- Once the new contract is active, update your electricity supplier in the Emaldo® App as soon as possible.
My supplier is not listed. What should I do?
In some countries, your electricity must be supplied by one of the supported providers to join the Emaldo® Grid Rewards program. If this applies to you, you’ll be asked to select your electricity supplier from a dropdown list.
The suppliers shown are the ones that currently allow Emaldo® to participate in flexibility markets and earn Grid Rewards.
If your supplier is not listed, you’ll need to switch to a supported supplier before enrolling in either the Flexible or Guaranteed plan. Once your new supplier contract is active, you can enrol your system in the app.
Green vs amber suppliers
- Green suppliers: Support the full range of grid balancing services and offer the highest earning potential.
- Amber suppliers: Support a limited set of services, so earnings may be lower compared with green-listed suppliers.
All listed suppliers support Grid Rewards participation. If you want to maximise payouts, choosing a green-listed supplier is recommended.
What you’ll see next
- If your supplier is listed, you can participate and earn Grid Rewards.
- In Sweden, switching from an amber to a green supplier can increase earning potential.
- If your supplier isn’t listed in a country where supplier choice is required, you’ll need to switch before enrolling.
