How to check your contract status
When you sign up to Grid Rewards you are signing a contract between yourself and Emaldo, through the ‘Power of Attorney’. The Power of Attorney is an agreement that Emaldo can represent you and your system when dealing with other parties in the balancing process.
After you have finished the sign up process you can view the contract status by clicking on the ‘Grid Rewards’ widget, then Authorization Records.
The contract will show as ‘[contract no.] power of attorney (status)’.
There are 3 statuses which you might see:
- Pending
- Waiting
- Suspended
⚠️ If no status is shown, your contract is signed and active. Only signed contracts are actively earning. All other statuses mean the customer is not yet earning or has stopped earning.
To understand the statuses, you need to know how Grid Rewards works: Emaldo must go through an approval process to bid for grid balancing—we bid using all our customers' devices combined into a single portfolio.
Once approved, Emaldo is given a limit for how much total customer power we can bid at once. To bid more, we need approval for the additional power capacity.
Emaldo can only add your system's power capacity to grid balancing immediately if we have space available - meaning we're within our current approved limit.
- If we need approval for additional capacity, we can't add your system yet and your contract will show 'pending'.
- If no further approval for capcity is required, we can register your system and start the process immediately. What you see next depends on your contract type (Guaranteed vs Flexible).
What each status means
Pending
- Applies to both Flexible and Guaranteed Grid Reward Contracts.
- There isn’t available capacity so we can’t add your system. Your contract will show ‘pending’ and you are not currently earning grid rewards
- The contract will change status when space becomes available, or our team manually approves the contract:
- For Guaranteed contracts, this will be before the end of the month in which you signed up. Within the app you will see the contract status move to ‘waiting’ and then the status will be blank once the contract is active on the 1st of the following month.
- For Flexible contracts, the enrolment process is slightly longer. After 3 full months after signing up, the status will be blank to show the contract is active and you begin earning in the 4th month.
Waiting
- Applies to Guaranteed Grid Reward Contracts only.
- You are not earning grid rewards.
- Guaranteed Grid Reward Contracts will be in this status for 1 of 2 reasons:
- There is available capacity at sign up, OR
- Your contract has progressed from ‘pending’ to ‘waiting’.
- The status will be blank once the contract is active and you are earning grid rewards on the 1st of the following month
Suspended
- Applies to both Flexible and Guaranteed Grid Reward Contracts. ****
- You are not earning grid rewards, any payouts are halted while the contract is suspended.
- Your device is not working as expected, for example it has been offline for 15 days (pending suspension period).
- The contract will stay in a ‘suspended’ state for up to 3 months, including 15 days pending. After that period your contract will be terminated. If the system issue is resolved (e.g. comes back online) in that time, and eligibility criteria is still met, then the contract will be reactivated and you will start earning Grid Rewards again.
Signed (no status in app)
- Applies to both Flexible and Guaranteed Grid Reward Contracts.
- Your contract is active and you are earning grid rewards

How do I Terminate my contract, and how long does it take?
If you request to terminate your Grid Rewards contract there is a difference in how long this takes, depending on your circumstances and which scheme you have signed up too.
Flexible Grid Rewards:
- No lock-in period - there is no minimum time you must be in contract before you can terminate the contract
- Contract ends 3 days after you make termination request
- The 3-day delay accounts for already scheduled Grid Balancing periods
Guaranteed Grid Rewards:
- You are not allowed to terminate the contract until 3 months after sign-up
- After the 3 month lock-in period has completed, your contract will end 3 months after you have made the termination request
⚠️ Important: Once your contract termination has completed, you must sign up for a new Grid Rewards contract if you wish to participate again. Previous contracts cannot be reactivated.
