⚠️ This guide will teach you how to manually override the AI mode on both the Emaldo® Power Core version 1 and 2 systems. Confirm which version you have by tapping in the Emaldo® App.
If you want to use override, the best time to do its will be after 3pm as you will see the full picture of energy prices for today and tomorrow.
Tap the Realtime Power card on the home page.
Tap in the upper right corner of the screen.
Tap Impacts & Strategies.
Tap Battery Strategies.
Tap Settings in the Emaldo AI Mode card.
Tap in the upper right corner of the screen.
Tap Manual Override.
Select a 1/4 hour timeslot to apply your override to. Do this by moving the white selector to the appropriate time.
The furthest left point in the graph always represents the current quarter-hour. If the customer selects “Override” and drags the slider all the way to the left, they can force a desired activity (the system will take this as a learning input) — and the customer can choose either charging or discharging for the specific quarter-hour.
Now, choose between the three available override options; Charge with grid, No charge nor discharge and Battery discharge.
If discharging is selected, make sure to set the threshold to “Battery Discharge.” Ensure that “When Battery > 20%” is selected, and the system will immediately begin discharging.
Charge with Grid:
- Use when no solar is available
- Battery depleted and requires immediate charging
- Grid electricity is inexpensive (eg. During nighttime hours)
No charge, nor discharge:
- Maintenance or safety protocols: To prevent wear or protect the system.
- User override/manual mode: A customer may wish to pause battery usage temporarily.
- Regulatory or market conditions: If there are negative feed-in tariffs or grid restrictions, it might be better to stay inactive.
- Battery limits reached: The battery might already be at its maximum or minimum charge threshold.
Battery discharge:
- Electricity prices are high, making battery use more economical than grid usage.
- Grid export is enabled, allowing customers to sell excess power at a profit.
- Solar generation is low, and stored energy is needed to meet current demand.
- Smart grid participation, such as demand response programs.
⚠️ The following steps are applicable to the Emaldo® Power Core version 2 only.
To tell the system how to prioritize you self-produced solar energy, tap and then tap Solar Priority.
Finally, choose between the three available priorities; Follow Emaldo AI, Load first and Charge battery first.
Follow Emaldo AI:
- Let the Emaldo AI decide the optimal prioritization
Load first:
- Your self-produced solar electricity will be used to supply your property's consumption first. Any excess energy will be stored in the battery.
Charge battery first:
- Your self-produced solar electricity will be used to charge your battery first. Any excess energy will be used to supply your property's consumption.
