Guaranteed Grid Rewards Plan
Battery Capacity (kWh)
When you join the Guarantee plan, we offer your battery to Grid Operators 24/7. However, activations are rare, so your system will be in Standby mode most of the time.
During Standby mode, a portion of your total energy (kWh) is reserved for potential activations. The remaining energy is controlled by Emaldo AI mode and used to reduce your day-to-day energy costs and for Peak Shaving, if enabled.
Guaranteed Grid Rewards Scheme: How battery capacity is allocated and used
This means that in total 6kWh is locked for potential activations. This is on top of your emergency reserve. If you have purchased additional battery packs and have connected an expansion cabinet, the locked capacity for potential activations does not change, but the volume which is controlled by Emaldo AI and is available to use will be greater.
Note: Generally, The battery state of charge targets are to not exceed the upper black 3kWh threshold or drop below the lower black 3kWh threshold, however small fluctuations either side of these limits may occur in some circumstances.
Inverter Power
For homes fitted with a 16 or 20 amp fuse, inverter power for household use is limited to 4.5kW to ensure the fuse is not overloaded. If your fuse is rated above 20 amps, the inverter power available for household use is limited to 4.8kW. In both cases, this typically meets most domestic needs. The remaining 6kW of inverter capacity is used by Emaldo for grid balancing.
If your home has a 16 or 20 amp fuse and regularly requires more than 4.5kW of power, we do not recommend enrolling in the Guaranteed Grid Rewards programme. There will not be enough spare power available to charge the battery effectively.
Similarly, if you have expansion cabinets, a 16 or 20 amp fuse, and no solar panels, we do not recommend joining the programme. In this scenario, there will not be enough power remaining to charge the expansion cabinets.
EV Charger
When you’re on a Guaranteed grid rewards contract and Grid balancing is inactive, we do not cap the power available to your EV charger. When a grid balancing activation occurs, Grid Balancing takes priority and the EV charger will stop charging the car.
When a grid balancing activation ends, your EV charger will automatically resume charging (as long as the usual charging conditions are met):
- Scheduled charging: charging resumes if the current time matches your scheduled charging window.
- Smart charging: charging resumes once your price/charging conditions are met.
- Instant charging: charging resumes automatically.
Please note. A grid balancing activation is when the battery is being used to balance the grid. It will either charge or discharge depending on what the grid needs.
