Like all battery systems, the Emaldo unit requires a small amount of energy to operate. The key difference with Emaldo is where that energy comes from and how transparent we are about it.
How Emaldo® is different
Many battery brands draw their operating power directly from the grid, which means you may not notice this consumption in your energy monitoring. The Emaldo® system is designed to power itself from:
- Your own solar energy whenever it's available
- Stored energy that was charged during the cheapest rate periods
This means that even the power used for self-consumption is cost-optimized. Rather than drawing from the grid at whatever the current rate is, your system uses energy it stored when prices were lowest and avoids using grid power during expensive peak periods.
With Emaldo, you can see the battery charge reducing even when idle - this transparency helps you understand exactly where your energy is going. Other systems consume power the same way, but you won't see it in their monitoring.
This powers all the features of your Emaldo® system and enables it to do its job - reducing your electricity cost and earning your money through the Emaldo® Grid Rewards program, offsetting the cost of consumption many times over.
How much power does it use?
Under normal operating conditions, your Emaldo® unit consumes approximately 150W throughout the day. This is similar to running a small household appliance.
Several factors can affect how much power your system actually uses:
- Ambient temperature
- System usage patterns
- Age of the units
Temperature management
The system actively manages battery temperature to keep your battery performing at its best for longer. In cold or hot weather conditions, you may see an additional 200W per battery for short periods of time when the heating or cooling elements are active.
